The long-running rift in the Okoye family has resurfaced—louder and messier than ever.
Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has publicly declared that his solo career is not only more fulfilling but also financially more rewarding than his days with Psquare, the legendary duo he once shared with his twin brother Paul and managed by their elder brother, Jude Okoye.
In a fiery post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Peter made it clear that walking away from the group—and the family business—was the best decision he’s made.
“I now earn on my own as a solo artiste today more than what I used to earn after splitting three ways as Psquare, plus the so-called manager,” he wrote.
He went on to accuse Jude of betrayal, theft, and interference in his affairs, suggesting that Jude’s alleged misconduct had consequences—including trouble with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“These are the exact same words you told the EFCC officials. And you ended up getting locked up in prison. Of course, you have to come up with another narrative.”
Mr. P didn’t hold back, describing his current music journey as peaceful and profitable.
“I have stopped playing nice and being the mature one while getting disrespected.”
The post was a direct clapback at an earlier statement from Jude Okoye, who on Friday took to Instagram to blast Peter, singer Cynthia Morgan, and other former associates under his Northside Music label.
Jude accused them of biting the hand that once fed them.
“They were big, influential, and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform. But they got greedy, wanted to eat alone, and so they left,” Jude claimed. “They fell off the wagon, became broke, and now they blame me.”
He denied all allegations of financial misconduct and challenged his accusers to bring forward concrete evidence.
“They concocted and fabricated lies… but to their surprise, I sat it out for two months,” Jude added, referring to his recent legal battle.
Legal Drama Unfolds
The online war of words comes amid a serious legal case involving Jude and the EFCC.
In February 2025, the anti-graft agency arraigned him on multiple charges of money laundering. Court documents allege that Jude and his company, Northside Music Ltd, illegally diverted over $1 million in royalties from Psquare’s international music earnings.
One charge accuses him of using the diverted funds to purchase a luxury property in Ikoyi, Lagos, valued at ₦850 million. Another claims he laundered the money through a Bureau De Change to conceal its origins.
Jude has pleaded not guilty and maintains that he is the victim of a smear campaign orchestrated by disgruntled former partners.
Cynthia Morgan Speaks
Singer Cynthia Morgan, a former signee under Northside, reignited tensions in June when she accused Peter Okoye of abandoning her during her career crisis. She claimed Peter only supported her publicly because it fit his own narrative against Jude—not out of genuine concern.
End of an Era for Psquare
The once-unbreakable Psquare brand officially came to an end—again—after Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) confirmed in August 2024 that the duo had permanently parted ways.
The twin brothers, who initially split in 2017 and briefly reunited in 2021, have been at loggerheads over royalties, control of their music catalogue, and alleged betrayal within the family.
Now, with legal battles, public feuds, and family fractures in full view, it appears the Psquare saga is far from over.
